Palm Sunday Passiontide Meditation, Sunday, March 29, 4 p.m., in sanctuary; livestream available
St. Paul’s Staff Singers and teen choristers combine to perform a service of ancient and modern music. Thomas Tallis’s “Lamentations” are among the brightest gems in a broad sea of Tudor jewels. Pulitzer Prize-winner, Caroline Shaw, was commissioned by the contemporary choir “The Crossing” to write a response to the 17th century cantata “Ad manus” (literally “to the hands”) from Dietrich Buxtehude’s series of cantatas meditating on each of the wounds of Jesus on the cross. Paired together, the Tallis and Shaw works create an arc of past to present, spanning a wealth of expression and emotion as we enter Holy Week.

Prayer Vigil: will you keep watch? Following the Maundy Thursday liturgy, you are invited to keep watch in the Chapel as we hold vigil with the reserved sacrament into the night. Beginning around 7:30 p.m., we will take turns sitting in quiet prayer, one hour at a time, through 1 a.m. on Good Friday. This simple, sacred practice offers space for stillness, reflection, and companionship with Christ in the hours before the cross. All are welcome, whether for a full hour or a brief visit. There will be an anchor person sitting watch and security will be present throughout the evening. Join us as we watch and pray together. For those who wish to participate, please park on the circle driveway.
