Who We Are

Founded in 1866, St. Paul’s Indy has been a vibrant center for worship, community, and service for more than 150 years. Inspired by sacred worship and Jesus’ call to love our neighbor, we seek to be a diverse, generous, and faithful community where all people are welcomed, valued, and encouraged to grow in faith.

As an inclusive, LGBTQ+ affirming Episcopal church in Indianapolis, we believe God’s love is for everyone. We welcome people of every age, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, family structure, ability, economic background, and life experience. We celebrate the full participation of LGBTQ+ people in every aspect of parish life, including worship, ministry, leadership, marriage, and community engagement.

Our commitment to inclusion is rooted in our understanding of the Gospel. We believe every person is created in the image of God and worthy of dignity, respect, and belonging. Through worship, conversation, learning, fellowship, and service, St. Paul’s equips and encourages people to embody Jesus’ compassion in their daily lives and to work toward a more just and loving world.

St. Paul’s Indy is a member of the Episcopal Diocese of Indianapolis and The Episcopal Church, part of the worldwide Anglican Communion. Rooted in our Baptismal Covenant and the ancient creeds, we embrace a rich faith tradition that welcomes dialogue, diverse perspectives, and even doubt. We believe faith is a journey, not a destination.

Guided by our commitment to thoughtful faith, inclusive community, and compassionate justice, we seek to put our beliefs into action through service, advocacy, generosity, and meaningful relationships. Whether you are exploring faith for the first time, returning to church, searching for an LGBTQ+ friendly church in Indianapolis, or looking for a welcoming Episcopal community where you can belong, you are welcome here just as you are.
