NOW HIRING (September 2025)

Director of Children, Youth & Family Ministry

St. Paul’s seeks a full-time Director of Children, Youth & Family Ministry to lead a full-bodied, dynamic program with big potential for growth. We seek someone who is grounded in the Christian faith, loves ministering alongside children and youth, is adaptive and open to new ideas, thrives in organizing and inspiring people, and works well both as part of teams and as a leader of teams. This position holds primary responsibility for Christian formation programs for children, youth, and families, and assisting with intergenerational programming.

St. Paul’s is a historic congregation in Indianapolis which balances faithfulness to our tradition with openness to God’s call to innovate, change, and grow by creating new ministries which serve an ever-changing society. We have over 1,000 members “on the books” and between 300-400 active parishioners who live throughout the Indianapolis metro area. We seek to be a diverse, loving, joyful, and faithful parish community, both to each other and to our communities.

This specific ministry:

  • Oversees all aspects of St. Paul’s Sunday School program, youth ministries, and Children’s Chapel including curriculum development, planning and scheduling, and teacher/leader recruitment, training, formation and support.

  • Develops and plans a variety of special family and youth events throughout the year.

  • Creates a safe, open and affirming environment in which our children and youth are honored for who they are without risk to their bodies or self-esteem.

  • Provides opportunities for children and youth for service within the parish (such as regular leadership in Sunday worship), and in the wider community.

  • Works collaboratively with St. Paul’s staff and parishioners to create and grow intergenerational offerings and ministries which integrate our children and youth more deeply and relationally into the parish community.

  • Collaboratively works with staff to provide community engagement offerings (Mess Fest, Day Camps, Bingo nights and All-Parish Retreat) and maintains community partnerships - such as with the MLK Center.

The ideal candidate for this position will possess:

  • A deep and articulate faith in Jesus Christ.

  • A commitment to, and passion for, children, youth and families.

  • The ability to work within tradition, and also innovate.

  • The willingness and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

  • Personal maturity, spiritual life and a sense of humor.

  • An undergraduate college degree in the arts or sciences.

  • Experience (2-5 years) leading Christian education programming and/or experience working with children in an educational setting.

  • A clear background check and the willingness to complete all requisite SAFE Church training segments, as required by the Episcopal Church and the Episcopal Diocese of Indianapolis.

Salary and benefits:

The salary for this position is $68,000/year with full benefits, including family health care, life and disability insurance, and a generous retirement match.
