Children’s Chapel

Children ages 3+ are welcome to join. Parents are always welcome but not required to join for child participation.

Children’s Chapel happens most Sundays during the 9 a.m. service. The service bulletin will note whether it is happening that Sunday. During the hymn before the gospel, you can also look back to see if a children’s cross and children are starting to gather at the baptismal font.

We usually do not have Children’s Chapel on the first Sunday of the month during the program year. Children’s Chapel continues during the summer on most Sundays.

Children follow the cross out of the sanctuary after the gospel reading. Then they return during the peace.

Children are in the Lilly Room, adjacent to the sanctuary.

The aim of Children’s Chapel is to provide time for kids to stand up, move to another space, lay down, wiggle — worship in their own way. Parents then have an opportunity to listen and pray by themselves for part of the service.

During Children’s Chapel, your child will sing, meditate with a Tibetan singing bowl, hear a Bible story from the lectionary, wonder about the story together, say a modified children’s creed in American Sign Language, pray for our worries, “sorries” and excitements, and then close with a final song.

Do you want to know the songs your child is learning in Children’s Chapel? Here are a few:
