As Interim Associate Rector, my responsibilities include Sunday Adult Formation (and Adult Sunday School education), Sacred Ground, and other adult spiritual formation outside of Sunday mornings. Along with other opportunities, in consultation with the Rector, I will plan seasonal liturgies and oversee other administrative tasks regarding worship. Social Justice and Creation Care will be significant themes in the work I am called to do.
I have been a Rector/Priest-in-Charge for the past nine years, serving in Alabama and Pennsylvania. Prior to that, I also served as Choirmaster at an Episcopal church while I was in discernment. I hold a PhD. In Theology from Vanderbilt University, and an M.Div from Christian Theological Seminary here in Indianapolis. I was a fellow with GreenFaith, an interfaith creation care group in New Jersey. I have won awards and honorable mentions for a few hymns I have written, and hope to focus more on this in the future.
Music is an interest, both in work and outside. I particularly enjoy early music, Celtic music, and choral music from all eras. I like to read, light-hearted and serious fiction. I enjoy walking and hope to travel more in the future. I recently visited Ireland, and have toured parts of Scotland and England. I hope one day to visit New Zealand and Australia.
