Edie Johnson, a native of Greensboro, N.C., began organ study at age 13 with Mr. Johnny Bradburn. In 1996, she received a B.Mus. degree in organ, magna cum laude, from Furman University where she studied with Dr. Charles Tompkins. She then entered Indiana University where she studied with Dr. Larry Smith, completing the Master of Music degree in 1998 and the Doctor of Music, with distinction, in 2003.
In 2000, Edie won first place in the John Rodland Organ and Church Music Competition, and she was one of two featured young artists who performed in a recital at the AGO National Convention in Seattle, WA. Two of her performances have been broadcast on National Public Radio's show, Pipedreams.
Edie has been the Assistant Organist and Choir Director at St. Paul's Church since 1998. In addition, she is Seminary Organist and Instructor of Organ and Piano at Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis.
