Icarus: From Debussy to Beatles
A Traditional Classical Jazz Ensemble
This local ensemble is rather eclectic both in sound, repertoire, and instrumentation. They are known for their performances of jazz, classical, pop and original compositions. Peter Hansen on bass, Gary Walters on piano, Dean Franke on violin, Jon Crabiel on drums - including some ethnic percussion and Mark Ortwein, playing tenor saxes, bass clarinet and electric bassoon.
They have performed frequently for Indianapolis audiences such as the venerable Jazz Kitchen and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.

International Artistry: Baroque & Classical Masterworks

with the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra

The Artistic Director of the IBO, Barthold Kuijken, returns from Belgium to conduct—and solo with—the orchestra in a concert of favorite masterworks. Kuijken, dipping the IBO’s toe in the waters of the Classical period, performs Mozart’s shimmering Flute Concerto in D.
Back to the Baroque: an audience-pleaser, Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 3, as well as music by Venice’s “Red Priest,” Antonio Vivaldi, and the Baroque period’s most prolific composer, Georg Philipp Telemann.

Masterworks of Franz Joseph Haydn & Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
St. Paul’s Choir with Orchestra & Guest Artist, Dean Franke, Violinist
Haydn became an international celebrity following two triumphant visits to England. Upon returning to Europe, he resumed his position as Kapellmeister for the Esterházy family composing a series of annual masses, resulting in six glorious sacred masterpieces.
St. Paul’s Choir will perform the exciting ‘Heiligmesse’. Mozart, who also enjoyed an international career, honored his mentor Haydn addressing him as ‘Papa’. Dean Franke performs a Mozart Violin Concerto in this concert featuring the two towering figures of the Classical Period. Our guest soloist, Dean Franke, has served as the Assistant Concertmaster of the Indianapolis Symphony since 1990.

The Passion with Lessons & Choral Music with
Indianapolis Pro Musica
This poignant Lenten service originated at St. John’s College, Cambridge, England. The liturgy is presented with readings from the Passion Gospels, traditional Lenten carols, hymns and anthems. All combine to lead us through the journey of Christ’s last days. This service will enrich your own Lenten passage as we proceed toward the Feast of the Resurrection.

Festival Holy Eucharist
St. Paul’s Choir sings festive music to celebrate the Feast of the Resurrection. Hymns and anthems will be accompanied by organ, brass and timpani.

Thomas Trotter, Organist

Thomas Trotter is one of Britain’s most widely-admired musicians. The excellence of his musicianship is reflected internationally in his musical partnerships. He has performed recitals in Berlin’s Philharmonie, the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, both the Musikverein and the Konzerthaus in Vienna and London’s Royal Festival Hall.
Trotter is regularly asked to perform on major historic instruments such as those at St. Ouen in Rouen, St. Bavo’s in Haarlem (Netherlands), Weingarten Abbey in Germany and Woolsey Hall at Yale University and he appears at the festivals of Salzburg, Berlin, Vienna, Edinburgh and London’s BBC Proms. He performs with leading orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic, Berlin Philharmonic, London Philharmonic and Royal Philharmonic orchestras, and in the United States he has appeared with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra. In May 2001 Trotter was the recipient of the Royal Philharmonic Society award for Best Instrumentalist, the first organist to win this award.

2012 Three Choir Festival
The intergenerational choirs of Christ Church Cathedral, Trinity Episcopal Church and St. Paul’s join together in this momentous occasion celebrating our Anglican tradition with great choral music.

Carla Edwards, Organist
Dr. Edwards received degrees from University of Kansas, University of Alabama and Indiana University. She has studied with Larry Smith, Delores Bruch, James Moeser, Catharine Crozier, Robert Noehren, Michael Schneider and Warren Hutton. Dr. Edwards performed extensively in the United States and her performances have been broadcast on the nationally syndicated radio program Pipedreams.
She appeared as a convention artist at the 1993 American Guild of Organist’s Regional Convention in Indianapolis, the 1994 National AGO convention in Dallas, the 1997 AGO Regional Convention in Evansville and the 2001 AGO Regional convention in Ft. Wayne. She won the region V, AGO Competition in 1985 and was a finalist in the 1986 National AGO Competition in Detroit. She has just released a new recording titled Homage, played on the DePauw University’s new Wolff organ. Dr. Edwards will perform the music of J.S. Bach, Hugo Distler, Paul Hindemith, Max Reger, Felix Mendelssohn and Milos Sokola.
